The VIcksburg Historical Society invites your organization or business to participate in the "May Meander"! It’s set for Saturday, May 18 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Vicksburg Historic Village.
The May Meander is the big opening day event for the Vicksburg Historical Society. You are invited to share in it as a special guest vendor at no cost to your organization or business. We are inviting the greater Vicksburg community to come out and enjoy the Historic Village and its wonderful displays in the nine buildings that will be open to the public. Guests will be able to meander through the grounds while appreciating the many historic artifacts on display. We will be serving free hot dogs and water during the late afternoon event.
You can set up a table in the Village to promote your business or organization’s opportunities, your upcoming events and all the many good things your do for the community. Organizations and businesses are invited to have representatives present from 4 -7 p.m., have literature and information at their booth space. Please provide your own table, a pop-up tent and chairs to sit on much like you might do for the Community Tailgate at the High School. You might even want to offer some sort of nibble and/or light beverage as an inducement for people to stop by your booth.
During this time, 26 students from the Vicksburg Middle School will be competing in our first ever History Day event. Their 13 groups have prepared a presentation on Michigan’s Role in the Civil War. Monetary awards to the top three contestants will be announced at 6 p.m. At 5:30, Gary Swain a director from the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (formerly the GAR) will give a short speech about the Civil War.
